WELCOME TO ST MARY MAGDALEN'S CATHOLIC PRIMARY AND NURSERY SCHOOL

On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I offer you a warm welcome to St Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Primary School. I hope you find our website clear and informative as it is designed to give you a flavour of the vibrant life at our school, the work of our pupils and the quality of education we deliver!

As a Catholic school, we provide all of our children with the opportunity to grow as young people and encourage and support them in developing a closer relationship with God. Our school motto ‘Together in God’s Love We Stand; Learning and Friendship Hand in Hand’ was written by our school community and inspiration for this was drawn from our school ethos, where we believe that ‘each person is a unique creation of God and we therefore respect and care for their individual needs.’

If you require any further information or you would like your child to join our school, please make an appointment to come and see our school in action. I look forward to meeting you.

    Red nose day
RED NOSE DAY FRIDAY 17TH MARCH 2023 We are pleased to be supporting Red Nose Day this year in their campaign to fund Comic Relief projects that work to improve the lives of people in the UK and across the world. Red Nose Day takes place next Friday 17th March. On this day, children are welcome to wear something red, if they wish, to keep with our Red Nose Day theme. Children may also wear Red Nose day accessories which are available to buy at TK Maxx and through the following websites below: https://shop.comicrelief.com/ https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/ Please note that this is the same day we will be seeing in the end of our neuro-diversity celebration week, so children can come into school dressed in rainbow colours and red nose accessories, dressed in red and have rainbow accessories or any combination that is manageable. As part of our fundraising efforts for Red Nose Day we would welcome any donations via Parentpay. This is a cashless event, so please do not bring in money donations to school. Thank you for your support. Zoe Rodway

    NEURO-DIVERSITY CELEBRATION WEEK
NEURO-DIVERSITY CELEBRATION WEEK MONDAY 13TH MARCH-FRIDAY 17TH MARCH 2023 At St Mary Magdalens, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a 'Neuro Diversity celebration week' next week from Monday 13th March to Friday 17th March. Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences, such as Autism. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools with the opportunity to recognise the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual. Throughout the week, children will explore Neuro-diversity through assemblies, using key books such as 'Same, Same, but different' and offerings from pupils here and St Mary's our partnership school, who will be coming in and sharing their experiences and understandings of what it means to be 'Neuro-Diverse'. We will also be using learning opportunities to explore the successes of neuro-diverse individuals. This will include our Artist of the month focus, which will feature the neuro-diverse local artist, Aida Ashall, who was encouraged to create art by the people that loved and cared for her, even though she could not verbally tell them that was what she wanted to do. To finish the week, on Friday 17th March, we are asking children to come into school dressed in rainbow colours or wear rainbow accessories, as this is the colour pattern that positively represents diversity. Please note that this is the same day as Red Nose Day, so children can come into school dressed in rainbow colours and red nose accessories, dressed in red and have rainbow accessories or any combination that is manageable.
