British Values & Gospel Values

How we promote British Values at St. Mary Magdalen’s RC Primary School & Nursery

In November 2014, the Department for Education reinforced the need to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at school and of society, as part of a broad and balanced curriculum.  Pupils must be encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance.

As a Catholic school we are dedicated to promoting values, virtues and ethics that shape our pupils' character and moral perspective, through the teachings of the church. We are confident that our continued focus on the Gospel Values will ensure our pupils develop a strong sense of social and moral responsibility which will prepare them for life in modern Britain. It will also give them the necessary awareness of what it means to be a good citizen and embed in them the building blocks of a future successful and productive life.

Through our curriculum and promoting The Common Good, we are able to make real links between the values of our pupils and the lives of others in their community, country and the world in general.

We would like to share with our parents how we promote these values.
